Hard to believe that we are already well into the month of April. There are lots of activities going on at PG once again.
I'd like to thank all of the families that sent in items for our raffle baskets. We will still take items for the baskets on Monday. We will begin selling tickets school wide this week and hopefully we will raise a significant amount of money to put towards our Medieval Times trip.
Speaking of the trip, we have 13 parent volunteers coming! Wow! It is so nice to see parents wanting to be a part of these wonderful experiences! I plan to send home the final note around the end of the first week of May. That will give us a few more weeks to fund raise and see how much we can save each student for the trip.
Reflex math - do we all remember that? A few students are doing a wonderful job of keeping up with their Reflex math. I encourage all students to still be on the program at least twice a week at home. After our multiplication "quiz" last week, I am noticing that students have relaxed on practising their facts. Multiplication is necessary for math throughout the grades, so we will continue to revisit it often. Keep working!
Popcorn sales are going well. Depending on how we do this week, we may even order one more shipment. Pop! Pop! Pop!
The Brock students that we had doing placements with us on a weekly basis have finished up for the year. That means that I would be very happy to welcome parents into the classroom on any day! Please send me an email if you are interested in volunteering. We would love to have you!

March Madness
Well with the first week of March comes our Power Glen Battle of the Grades. C'mon grade 4s - let's show them what we've got!
Each student that participates in our theme days will earn us points for the week. We are also collecting loose change and non perishable food items all week.
Monday is Western day - I hope to see lots of cowboys and cowgirls in grade 4!
Tuesday is 80's day - let's see some big hair!!
Wednesday is Fashion Disaster Day! I bet if we combine Monday and Tuesday....LOL
Thursday is Black and White Day.
And finally, Friday is Panther Pride day, come wearing any of your PG spirit wear.
I know that we have the greatest group of grade 4 students, and we can show our spirit all week long!
On a more academic note, parents please ensure that your child is continuing to use Reflex Math once, or better yet, twice a week at home. We want to see improvement in our fact fluency! I hope that students may even find the time during March break to complete their three weekly sessions!

February News
Hopefully everyone received the newsletter that came home this week. I'll just take a moment to review the important stuff.
Bitstrips is on hold for the month of February. I would like to see all students using Reflex Math at least twice a week at home. Ideally we will be able to move from the addition and subtraction fluency to multiplication and division in the very near future. Congratulations to the students who have already made the jump!
Report cards will be coming home this week. If you would like to meet to discuss your child's progress, please email me and we can set up a convenient time.
Keep practising the basic multiplication facts with your child. Knowing these facts will help your child for years to come!
This week I am trying out a new reinforcement system called Class Dojo. Ask your child to tell you about it. If it works out the way I am hoping, you will be able to check in weekly on your child's progress in areas such as participation, being prepared, and other categories. I want to give it a week or two to see if we like it, then you will be receiving a note with more details.
As always, thank you to the parents that volunteer their time to help in the classroom. It is always appreciated!

January News
It seems like forever since I have been on here! Just wanted to give everyone a heads up as to what is going on these days.
Reflex math is continuing and I encourage each student to get on the program at least once at home per week ~ more is better.
Some students are continuing with Bitstrips. We made a deal that students could choose to do Reflex twice at home and not do Bitstrips (for a few weeks only).
In class we are working on multiplication and division in math.
In language we are completing some activities from our read aloud book Frindle. We are also beginning a poetry unit.
Report cards will be coming home in a few weeks. Now is a good time to review what your child is doing to achieve his/her best each day.

December Raffle!
I almost forgot to add this....the December raffle will be for two tickets to the January 18th Ice Dogs game. Tickets are $1.00 each and will be sold up until the last Friday before the holiday break (December 21st). Try your luck!
December....Already?!
With December comes the spirit of giving. Our school is fortunate to be involved in a project called Adopt A Family, which allows us to help people who may not be as fortunate. We are participating in the "Twelve Days of Giving". As soon as I have more information, I will let you know the details about our family. Until then, please feel free to send in non perishable food items for Community Care.
Along with everything else that is going on at school, we have also been hard at work in our class. Last week we completed a procedural writing activity on How to Blow a Bubble. Have a look at the great pictures!
And to start this week off on a fun note, we tried our hand at writing instructions for eating a pudding cup without a spoon!
Please remember to have your child work on their Bitstrips and Reflex Math each week!
